Describing Your Home
Friend1
So, tell me about your new flat. What's it like?
Friend2
It's really lovely. It's on the third floor with a great view of the park.
Friend1
How many rooms does it have?
Friend2
There are two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and one bathroom. It's not huge, but it's perfect for me.
Friend1
Is it furnished?
Friend2
Partly. The living room has a sofa and a coffee table, and the bedrooms have beds. But I need to buy a dining table.
Friend1
What's the neighbourhood like? Is it quiet?
Friend2
It's very quiet. There's a supermarket around the corner and a park just five minutes away.

Talking to a Neighbour
Helen
Good morning! You must be the new neighbour. I'm Helen from flat four.
Mark
Good morning, Helen. I'm Mark. I moved in last weekend. Nice to meet you.
Helen
Welcome to the building! How are you settling in?
Mark
Pretty well, thank you. Everyone seems very friendly here.
Helen
We're a nice community. If you need anything, just knock on my door.
Mark
That's very kind of you. Actually, do you know where I can recycle glass bottles?
Helen
Yes, there are recycling bins at the end of the street, just past the post box.
Mark
Perfect. And is there a good coffee shop nearby? I haven't explored the area yet.

Reporting a Problem to a Landlord
Tenant
Hello, Mr. Davis. This is James from flat seven. I'm calling about a problem in my flat.
Landlord
Hello, James. What seems to be the problem?
Tenant
The heating isn't working. It's been off for two days and it's very cold.
Landlord
I'm sorry to hear that. Have you checked the thermostat?
Tenant
Yes, I've checked everything. The boiler makes a strange noise but no heat comes out.
Landlord
That sounds like a boiler problem. I'll send a plumber tomorrow morning. Will you be home?
Tenant
Yes, I work from home on Thursdays. What time should I expect them?
Landlord
Between nine and twelve. I'll call you with the exact time when I know more.

Inviting Someone Over
Host
Hi, Sarah. I'm having a small dinner party on Saturday evening. Would you like to come?
Guest
Oh, that sounds lovely! What time?
Host
Around seven o'clock. It'll just be a few friends. Nothing too formal.
Guest
I'd love to come. Should I bring anything?
Host
Just yourself! Well, if you'd like to bring a bottle of wine, that would be nice.
Guest
Of course. Do you have any dietary restrictions I should know about for the other guests?
Host
One of our friends is vegetarian, but don't worry, I'm making a variety of dishes.
Guest
Wonderful. I'm really looking forward to it. What's your address again?

Asking for a Favour
David
Hi, Emma. I hope I'm not disturbing you. Could I ask you a favour?
Emma
Of course, David. What do you need?
David
I'm going away for the weekend and I was wondering if you could water my plants.
Emma
No problem at all. How often do they need watering?
David
Just once on Saturday morning. I'll leave the key under the mat.
Emma
That's easy enough. Is there anything else you need?
David
Could you also collect my post? I'm expecting an important letter.
Emma
Sure. I'll put everything on your kitchen table. Have a great weekend!

Moving to a New Place
Friend1
So you finally moved! How do you like the new neighbourhood?
Friend2
I love it! It's so different from where I used to live. Much quieter and greener.
Friend1
Is it far from work?
Friend2
It's about thirty minutes by bus. There's a direct bus from the end of my street.
Friend1
That's not bad. Have you found any good places to eat nearby?
Friend2
Yes! There's a fantastic Italian restaurant just around the corner. We should go sometime.
Friend1
Definitely! What about shopping? Is there a supermarket close by?
Friend2
There's a small one on the high street, and a bigger one about ten minutes away by car.
